6 Jobs That Pay Cash in the New Economy

How to get cash now without a job is the immediate challenge when you have no income.

When you are having a hard time finding a job or need a second job now, the most productive thing to do is to find a way to make one for yourself by finding ways to solve problems for others while building on your natural skill sets.

And the good part about this is that there is no middle-man, you are paid up front on top of it.

Perfect if you need some money fast! So, let's get into it.

With the global economy as precarious as it is and many of the best jobs having left the country or being short-term and provisional, often just part time, minimum wage, we need to think outside the box on how to earn extra cash fast.

More and more aspects of our daily lives are being commodified in some way or another. Things that people used to do for each other for free "back in the day", like babysitting each others kids etc, are now not accessible without being able to pay for it.

The upside to this is that this creates opportunities which never existed before (think of Airbnb or Uber and the "sharing economy") Here is where your creativity comes in the new gig economy.

6 Quick Jobs That Pay Cash

Be A Designated Driver. One idea I had is to offer "designated driver" services. A way to do this is to make this idea unique - offer to drive people home in their own vehicles. This would work best if you live in a large urban area with late-night or all-night transit. Or work this with a friend and coordinate your work with each other, picking each other up after dropping off clients.

Late Night Liquor Delivery. This might not actually be an option in certain municipalities due to local laws, but might be a possibility. In some states, you might need a special permit.

Waiting In Line Ups. There are many people who pay other people to stand in line ups for them--professional line sitters. Especially for routine and time-consuming things like paying traffic tickets, filing papers with government agencies, etc. There are already some people doing this in urban areas.

Personal Assistant. Building on the last idea and broadening it somewhat, you could become a personal assistant where you can run errands for people, do grocery shopping for them, take their pets to the groomer/vet, pay traffic fines, shop for them, so laundry, etc etc.

Make a list of all the imaginable things you could offer to do. Thinking here of money making online jobs, a spin on this would be to be a virtual assistant.

Elderly Companion. Continuing on the theme of personal assistant, this could be more specialized and target the elderly demographic. With the population mainly made of aging baby boomers, this might be a very good option.

I know of someone on my street who does this and the bulk of his day is running them to medical appointments and the like, and also facilitating domestic errands for them, like groceries and goods for the home. Some will even pay for the company of a social outing for the day.

Surveillance of Persons. Again, this is something that might need a private investigator's license, but there is an opportunity here too, especially keeping tabs on potential cheating spouses. With cell phones, every one of us is a potential photographer. Also, there are some online shops that sell "spy gear" that one could use to gather intelligence for those involved in legal disputes.

*Disclaimer: working and intentionally not declaring income is, in most cases, a federal offense. This website in no way endorses tax evasion against the IRS. In any event, I thought it might be useful to post a list of such positions in hope that it might give some ideas on how to get some extra revenue flowing in these extraordinarily difficult times as a stop gap towards legitimate self-employment. It is highly probable that some of these ideas can lead to you establishing your own, legitimate business. If you do manage to come up with a job that pays cash, "under the table", it allows you access to 100% of your earnings up front, as long as you pay the taxes in the next tax season, when they are due--essentially allowing you some more money up front.
